Please see the Job Requirements below. Applicants must also go through the University of Michigan Dearborn Human Resources website www.umjobs.org and submit the required documents online.
SummaryThe University of Michigan Dearborn Department of Natural Sciences is seeking a Clinical Research and Innovation Scholarship Program Scholar (CRISP Scholar) to work under the supervision of the BIOL 494 Emergency Medicine Research Associates Program (EMRAP) course instructor, currently Dr. Daniel Keyes [email protected], also of the departments of Emergency Medicine and Graduate Medical Education (GME) Trinity Health Hospital-Livonia, MI. The CRISP Scholar will support the BIOL 494 EMRAP Course and participate in clinical research projects at the hospital. This job will emphasize two areas of support: Clinical research facilitation and program management. At any particular time, one of these may predominate. The position will begin in Fall 2024 and continue through the Winter and early Summer 2025 terms.
Pursuing or a recently obtained undergraduate degree is required. Past participation in an EMRAP Program is preferred, however, candidates with extensive experience in Clinical Research outside EMRAP may be considered. Experience with clinical research publications is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procedures and practices necessary to conduct Clinical Research including skills such as HIPPA training, computing, and professional writing, good organizational and communication skills both face-to-face and online, manuscript preparation, and submission to journals. Health Insurance, vaccinations, and other requirements imposed by St. Mary's for employees must be met.
The CRISP Scholar is intended to facilitate and coordinate clinical research projects within the BIOL 494 EMRAP class and the associated Graduate Medical Education programs at the physician training site. The scholar assists with research and submission of manuscripts, and the previous scholar succeeded in co-authoring several publications. The Scholar will assist with conducting and coordinating Clinical research with BIOL 494 faculty and students initially in Emergency Medicine, with possible cross-discipline studies in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and others within the hospital. In coordination with the BIOL 494 Instructor and the course goals (see syllabus), the CRISP Scholar will provide writing and editing support for the publications including those arising from BIOL 494. If needed, the CRISP scholar will assist with arranging and scheduling seminar scheduling and invitation of clinical research speakers from within and external to the hospital .
At the discretion of the BIOL 494 faculty, the CRISP Scholar may also play a role in the administration of the Emergency Medicine Research Associates Program (EMRAP). Efforts such as: assisting the instructor with setting up CANVAS teaching pages, distributing assignments, and quizzes, and managing the blog/forum associated with BIOL 494 EMRAP are examples in conjunction with the existing program student leadership.
The EMRAP committee reviews student applications, and letters of recommendation, and works towards the admission of approximately 7-10 students. The CRISP Scholar will assist Dr. Keyes and Ms. Tahnee Prokopow, University of Michigan-Dearborn Pre-Professional Health Adviser (Provost's Office), and the EMRAP Program Committee in student acceptance, and provide information for students on BIOL 494 registration, scheduling, and webpage updates. Note: Registration is by Faculty Signature only (Dr. Keyes). Health and policy compliance measures/requirements by the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Trinity Health are expected for the CRSIP Scholar, like the BIOL 494 students.
