Fans rejoiced when engine swaps were revealed for Gran Turismo 7. This tuning option has been requested for a long time, allowing players to swap engines from different cars and bring their car build fantasies to life.
At launch, Gran Turismo 7 engine swaps were restricted to roulette tickets. This meant the only way to unlock an engine swap was by winning it in a randomly picked prize.

Thankfully, with the release of the May 2023 update, engine swaps are now much easier.
How to do engine swaps in Gran Turismo 7
Since the release of update 1.34 released May 2023, you can now buy engine swaps in Gran Turismo 7 from the Tuning Shop. There are a few caveats, however - engine swaps are only unlocked after you reach Collector level 50.
They aren't cheap either. Swapping an engine costs 100,000 credits plus the value of the new engine. For example, swapping the engine from a Honda Civic Type R into another model will cost you 127,000 credits. Other Special Parts can also be bought in the new “Ultimate” section of the Tuning Shop.
If you have an eligible car, an option to swap the engine will appear at the bottom of the Car Maintenance & Service in the GT Auto Shop.
Previously, you had to win engine swaps in roulette tickets by chance. These work similarly to Horizon’s Wheelspins, giving you a randomly selected prize whenever you complete tasks or your daily workout.
These prizes range from free cars to credits and tuning parts. Each one of the five prizes offered in roulettes has a star rating of one to six indicating their value.
Occasionally, an engine appears as a four-star roulette prize, but there’s no guarantee of winning it. You’re more likely to win one with a higher Collector level, however. The higher your Collector level, the more likely you are to win high-ranking roulette tickets.
If you’re lucky to win an engine, you can redeem it in the Gifts section of your Garage. Some of the engines you can obtain include the LT1 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette C7, the Hellcat engine from the Dodge Challenger, and the 5.0-litre Coyote engine from the Ford Mustang.
As of update 1.34 released in May 2023, you can finally buy engine swaps from the Tuning Shop. However, you need to reach Collector level 50 before you can do this.

Which engine swaps are available?
Unfortunately, engine swaps are only available for a limited number of cars. When you select an engine, a list of compatible cars in your garage will be shown. Once selected, you can fit the engine into a compatible car to extract more performance.
This allows for some fun tuning projects. For example, you can fit Toyota’s legendary 2JZ engine from the A80 Supra into a Silvia if you want to spice up Nissan’s sports coupe.
